Who’s your favorite BK auto mechanic?

We’re always looking for ways to help out, even when no one actually asks us for it. Posting recently on Park Slope Parents, Inha asks where to find an “honest, reliable mechanic” for her down-and-out car. A fellow PSPer, “omatokai” chimed in with this favorite in Prospect Heights:

Nok Auto repair on Saint Marks Ave between Underhill and Washington in Prospect Heights! The owner is Rohan, and he is a real stand-up guy… The shop is even nice and clean. You just get zero of that feeling that you’re being hosed. I used to loathe having to see a mechanic. Very pleased to have found Rohan / Nok.

We hope that’s working out for Inha, but there must be plenty more “honest, reliable” mechanics out there—for those of us with cars, that is. Where do you go for your brakes, shocks, tune-ups and tree-holes?

    Can’t speak for mechanics (am reading along hoping to find someone, actually) but FWIW for auto glass and locks I’ve had several good experiences with Joe’s, on Seventh Ave in Park Slope/Windsor Terrace (just south of the Prospect Expwy).

    @Alba: I love Holyland because for three years, I slipped him $100 and my car amazingly passed inspection!

    I’ve actually been using Nok Auto Repair for many years and he’s pretty honest. I don’t walk out feeling like I’ve been taken advantage of because I don’t know anything about cars.

    New Millennium auto shop on 3rd ave at 7th (or 8th?) street. I’ve been taking my cars there for years.

    I’m glad no one has mentioned my mechanic. He’s awesome. Honest, helpful, and great prices…. He’s my little secret. (But, of course, I found him via rave reviews on the web so I guess he’s not that big of a secret)

    Erroll’s Auto Repair absolutely. Just got a tune up for $200. That’s the best price I’ve found in NYC hands down.

    I just arrived into NYC after driving for more than over 1000 miles from Texas and found a problem in my shift qears. I took my Toyota to the dealer at Flatbush and was quoted $ 600 and more for a whole horde of works and parts.

    I took my car to Sam’s Auto at 28 Cadman Plz W, Brooklyn, NY 11201.

    He was very professional and look my car over and gave me a quotation of 1/3 quoted by the dealer. He went straight into the business and within half the day fixed my problem. Moveover, he took care of my change of license plates to the NY ones from the Texas and did not charge me.

    Very professional, honest and reasonable. I have been recommending people to his shop ever since
