FRIDAY

7:30pm: new ‘vol. 1’ reading series celebrates chicago (the city, not the band) with windy city representatives adam levin, jami attenberg, and molly tolsky. bonus: free goose island beer! word, free.

8pm: erland + the carnival (feat. simon tong of the verve, gorillaz, more) completely rework old brit folk + rock w. killer riffs, melodies and lyrics. rock shop, $10.

SATURDAY

12:30-6pm: after 75 years, ruby’s bar + grill is being forced out of coney. join their rally/protest/party today.

2pm: the 2nd annual greenpoint beer festival serves up 33 local and international craft + micro-brews. red star (37 greenpoint ave). $20 gets you six samples.

5-11pm: this month’s target first saturday at the brooklyn museum features country singer-songwriter laura cantrell, author rick moody, a screening of disney’s alice in wonderland (1951), a dance party, more! free.

pick a spot to cheer for the runners of the ing new york city marathon

thru 11/9: a 24′ budget rental truck becomes a traveling vaudevillian theater. location varies nightly, $15.
