Strum-thing new to check out: acoustic series at The Sackett

Our friends at The Sackett — home to Boggle tournaments, zine parties and storytelling nights — are back with another great free series: Sackett Live, an acoustic music night starting tomorrow at 8pm. The bar’s own Brett Saxon will be hosting and performing a short set along with Luck War, a Brooklyn band with a sound influenced by Pavement, The Pixies and Dinosaur Jr. Saxon’s music is built on guitar storytelling, weaving together songs of longing, loneliness and social politics, similar to Andrew Bird or Conor Oberst. If you haven’t checked out this adorable neighborhood pub, it’s pretty much the perfect place to take in some mellow music while sipping some craft cocktails or seasonal brews: the bar is even extending its happy hour, so you can get $2 off everything until 8pm. Check back every month to see what else is on tap for Sackett Live!

The Sackett, 661 Sackett St., Park Slope.
