Next week: a late-night boutique crawl

Notecards at Serimony, a participating store.

Notecards from Serimony in Carroll Gardens.

Ya gotta love Marty Markowitz. To help local independent retailers weather the drought, the Beep has organized “Shop Brooklyn” boutique nights next Wednesday and Thursday (July 29 and 30). Sixty-five housewares, clothing and gift shops in the borough’s five “fashion districts” will stay open until 10 p.m., with trunk shows, designer cameos, special deals, the works. In case you were wondering, those districts are Downtown Brooklyn (capaciously defined), Fort Greene/Bedford-Stuyvesant, Park Slope, Williamsburg and Bay Ridge. For more info including participating shops, see www.visitbrooklyn.org, or call 718-802-3846.

  2. serimony will feature trunk shows both nights, with meet-the-designer wine receptions. On Wednesday, KimmChi will be showing her silkscreened apparel, and on Thursday a show featuring jewelry by triggerhappy will be the main event.
