An excuse to get your midweek September drink on

And by “drink” we mean both “tea” and “booze.” Though summer is the undisputed champion of free events, don’t let this the gray turn of September force you to open your wallet and shell out entertainment dollars. Kerri Doherty (of Fucked in Park Slope) is back with another month of free events as part of the weekly series at the Slope’s cavernous Tea Lounge. September’s offerings start tonight and include a skillshare, a pet peeve forum and a story slam. Full schedule below!

Sept. 6: The Laugh Lounge
9:00pm
See some of NYC’s finest improvisors together under one roof on the first Tuesday of every month! Featured guests will include players from the PIT, UCB, The Magnet and Chicago’s Second City. They’re bringing Improv comedy to Brooklyn on an evening not to be missed.

Have a gripe to get off your chest? Join in on the Laugh Lounge’s mid-show “Pet Peeve Forum,” which will offer a mic and 5 minutes for you to tell us what gets your goat: The Park Slope parking sitch? Cost of rent? Your neighbor’s yappy dog? Spill your guts to fellow Brooklynites – it’s therapeutic!

Sept. 13: Brooklyn Skillshare Presents: Producing a Documentary From Scratch
7:30pm

David Sauvage is an award-winning documentary director and producer who has produced several projects from scratch: from raising the money to carrying the tripod and negotiating television distribution agreements. He’ll share his strategies for success, including turning your ideas into a pitch, the principles and spirit of fundraising and the realities of distribution, among other steps. He’ll also show clips from his work and will help you develop your ideas.

Sept. 20: I Like You, Maude: StorySLAM with Featured Guest Storyteller
7:30pm
I Like You, Maude is akin to other storySLAMS in NYC. Anyone can tell a story on any topic. Just show up, put your name in the hat, and if picked you have five minutes to regale the audience with your tale. The stories must be TRUE and told WITHOUT notes or paper. For having the plums to bare your soul to an audience, every storyteller wins a prize! Each show will have a featured guest storyteller. This month’s guest is David Crabb (The Moth storySLAM champion, Ask Me Storytelling) Hosted by Kerri Doherty (F’d in Park Slope).

The Tea Lounge is at 837 Union St. in Park Slope.
