New blog: Handmade Brooklyn

Picture 20Weavers, potters and sock-monkey-makers of Brooklyn, toil in anonymity no more: a group of crafty people have started a new blog aimed at all things handmade in Brooklyn. It’s called—yes—Handmade Brooklyn and it’s going to be covering Brooklyn artists, craft shows, flea markets and the like. They’re on the lookout for Brooklyn-based crafters to tell their stories and we know there are plenty of you out there cause we see you every weekend. The folks behind the new site are Chevala Designs (gemstone jewelry), Fisk and Fern (screenprinted papers and home goods), Fofolle (handmade clothing) and Metropolis Soap Co. (vegan and eco-friendly soaps). So take a look and tell them all about yourselves, Etsyites. We’re in! Do Post-it bookmarks count as a craft?

Though the blog covers all of NYC, it has some fun Brooklyn-related items already. Currently, their top story is a feature on the adorable lads behind The Didge Project, a healing-through-didgeridoos org that we’ve been meaning to do something on. (Can someone PLEASE bring didge yoga to Brooklyn?) Read the rest of this entry »
