Every now and again, we’re asked to pool our collective BK wisdom and help out a Brokelynite in need. Brokelyn fan Warren wrote us this week asking where to throw a birthday party on the cheap. His requirements: a dance floor and room enough for 25 to 30 people. So far, Warren’s been quoted $300 or more everywhere he looks, so that’s the number to beat. Our thought? Go with the flow, and bring the gang to a free DJ’d event at a big space: DJ Lady Bird‘s playing The Bell House front lounge next Thurs. Where else for Warren’s bash?

raffleThat’s right, we’re holding a raffle, and it’s going to be the best one Brooklyn has even seen. Why? A year ago this month, Brokelyn emerged from its primordial blog ooze and started bringing you all you need for living big on small change, and received some mighty fine accolades along the way). To celebrate our first year, we’re all going to live even bigger, just for one special night before the carriage turns back into the G train. Calling all single Brokelynites—we want to hook you up! We proudly present the BK Meatup (meat market + meetup) that we’re co-sponsoring on Wednesday Sept. 30 along with our fave digisphere partners: FuckedinParkSlope (FiPS) and Brooklyn Based.

So why a singles party? It all started when commenters wrote to FIPS about how hard it was to hook up with other single people in Strolleropolis and thus a meatup was born.
