When Girl Walk danced by Occupy Wall Street

Kylie Minogue is the 1 percent.

Happy week where no one wants to do anything! As a cure for post-holiday blues, check out the latest installment of Girl Walk // All Day, the city spanning dance video set to the mashy remixes of Girl Talk’s All Day. In this eighth edition, Anne Marsen totes a bunch of bags from hoity toity stores down to Zuccotti Park to preen and shimmy in front of the protesters. Their reactions, as you might imagine, are not exactly welcoming. Via Gothamist, where you can also find episodes 1-7.

Who slept with your apartment before you?

Are you savvy to your building's history?

The most curious aspect of my Bushwick apartment, after the painstakingly hand-painted portrait of Capt. Jack Sparrow on one wall, is the one room that’s about six inches off the ground. You pitch a few tents in a friend’s backyard and suddenly you’re the most hated kids in Brooklyn.

Our story yesterday on three happy campers in Bushwick was picked up by media outlets including The Post, Curbed, Gothamist and Brownstoner, whose commenters (142 at press time) unleashed their full fury on the rain-soaked youth.

“Stupid hipsters,” “Lazy ass jokers with iPods,” “white trash” and “asshats” were a few of the many epithets hurled at the trio by the nut jobs on Brownstoner. Others wanted to sleep with them. But there were a handful of commenters (brave souls) who wrote that they actually think the backyard campout is pretty cool. Read the rest of this entry »

Time-saving subway hack: Pre-walk all day

Time is money in New York City, and you’re most likely short on both. Gothamist points out this Daily News  story today on a study that confirms a sweet hack you can do to separate yourself from the rest of the clueless transit masses: The most crowded cars are usually the ones at the front of the train, or right next to the stairwells, while the ones in the rear have a lot more breathing room. No duh, you say? Not when you think how many people just stop right at the bottom of the damn stairs. Learn the super secret art of pre-walking and you’ll be on your way to full Subway Jedi status.
